History

Garp was founded by two dreamers and visionaries who were great friends: a Turk and a Greek. Their ambition was to create a tranquil and harmonious community where people could live free from the corrupted modern world of greed and selfishness, where every participant would contribute with whatever skill they might have in order for Garp to evolve.

Garp began as a simple dock built by local villagers, accessible only by boat in the beginning, supplies were brought in by sea. Soon a "houseboat" and kitchen were built overlooking the dock with some creativity and an upside down boat. Yuruk tents were constructed along the hillsides to provide more accommodation and the community began to grow.
As the years passed, more and more ideas went into Garp and huts were built along the seaside together with spaces for a community to gather and share food, entertainment, work and relaxation. New structures are being erected this year. We are carving a cave house from the mountain rock.

A stone house is under construction on the hillside and will be the heart of Garp with guestrooms, kitchen and common area, two wind turbines will be generating electricity for Garp in the coming months. Garp will evolve and grow with the contribution of all people, who will share this unique experience.
